Welcome to Symmetry: Mount Saint Vincent University‘s student-run public relations and communications publication. Based in Halifax (K’jipuktuk), we recognize that Mount Saint Vincent University and Symmetry are located in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
Since 2011, Symmetry has provided students, faculty, and professionals with an avenue to reflect upon values, practices, and current events related to public relations and communications.
Although Symmetry‘s roots are in the MSVU communications studies department, students from other disciplines are encouraged to contribute their views and perspectives on communications, business, news stories, and other relevant areas of interest.
Together, we create, communicate, and collaborate — and you can too.
The name
Our name is based on the standard, two-way symmetrical model of communication.
Symmetric communication emphasizes the importance of two-way communication and mutual understanding between an organization and its publics. Symmetry is a publication founded on reciprocity, collaboration, and contribution.
