Hello and welcome to Symmetry Vol. II!
Since the launch in 2011, Symmetry has been an outlet for students, faculty and communication professionals to share knowledge, advice and have fun writing. As the new Editor-In-Chief I am extremely excited to begin this new chapter (or should I say volume) of Symmetry for the 2013-2014 school year. My Co-Editor, Melissa and I have been working to bring you a new website and content. That being said, have no fear, all content from Symmetry Vol. I is still accessible. You can find the archive here or in the column to the left.
As MSVU’s only student-run publication we have created the category “Mount Matters”. This section will feature content devoted to our school such as the article “Get connected with your campus” by our guest writer Lindsay Cross. Another new addition we’d like to highlight is the “International” section. In this section students can contribute their perspectives on public relations and communications in Canada or other parts of the world. In doing so, we’d like to encourage international students to write for Symmetry to practice writing and reflect upon communications functions in other geographic areas. As always, anyone interested in writing is welcome.
Thank you, Olivia, Ryan and Sarah for your contributions this week. I had fun reading your articles and hope to hear from you again this year. Further, thank you to Dr. Amy Thurlow, Tracy Moniz for volunteering as our new mentor, Lindsay Cross and Ben Boudreau in Public Affairs, and of course Kelly Lynch and Adam Sterling for all of your support during this transition. Over the past year I have continued to see first-hand the amount of enthusiasm and commitment the Mount has to its students. I hope that new and returning members of the Mount community will take this opportunity to create, communicate and collaborate with Melissa and I.
With the year just getting going, we are looking for writers. If you love to write, want to improve your writing skills and have fun working with other students at the Mount then you are in the right place. We are always open to new ideas and looking for ways to collaborate. Whether this is one article or a dozen the choice is all yours. Aren’t able to come up with a topic? That’s okay, we can help find one with you. Don’t hesitate to send us an email, a tweet or even stop one of us in the halls. I promise we’re nice.
