Three binge-worthy public relations podcasts to check out

With high levels of screen time and students feeling overwhelmed with readings, podcasts provide a screen-free alternative to keep up with trending public relations topics and best practices for communicators. A few noteworthy public relations podcasts to check out include the following:

Inside PR

Inside PR is produced on a weekly basis by Canadians Joseph Thornley and Martin Waman. The industry veterans take listeners through building communication skills and reputation management. Inside PR makes sure to cover hot topic moments, with the most recent episode titled “Facebook: decaying from the inside?” This podcast can be listened to on Apple podcasts or at https://www.insidepr.ca.

PR Week

PR Week releases an American based podcast on a weekly basis to highlight the “who’s who” and the “what’s what” in the public relations and communications world. PR Week’s editorial director Steve Barrett and executive editor Frank Washkuch interview noteworthy speakers and provide insight on news events in every episode. This podcast can be accessed through PR Week’s website or on Apply Podcasts.

Think Fast, Talk Smart

The Think Fast, Talk Smart podcast is hosted by Matt Abrahams, a lecturer of Strategic Communication at Standard School of Business. The podcast teaches listeners strategic communications tools and techniques, such as how to communicate under pressure and how to make communication inclusive. Episodes run about 20 minutes long and can be found on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

According to Radio Connects Canada, nearly 11 million Canadian adults have listened to a podcast within the past year. Podcasts provide a great way for public relations students and practitioners to stay up to date on the latest industry news and trends.

Commenting on the podcast world would not be complete without giving a special shoutout to the Weekend Roundup, a weekly podcast hosted by Bachelor of Public Relations students Lauryn Landry and Madi Mills (Symmetry’s Co-Editor-in-Chief!). The hosts produce new episodes every Sunday documenting pop culture moments, university life, and Sunday scaries. Make sure to check out the Weekend Roundup on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
