Dear readers,
The deer have returned to campus and with them, another school year has come to an end. Between the stress of studying for finals and missing the samosas from the McCain Starbucks, it’s hard not to reflect on the success of our 2021-2022 Symmetry team.
This year, we shared various PR know-how, from how to tell if your brand is trying too hard on social media to our favourite binge-worthy public relations podcasts. We attended Cultivate 2021, the national virtual conference hosted by the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), and reflected on how direct mail can improve your writing skills. We helped guide you through planning a fundraiser and gave all our tips and tricks for the co-op application process.
Most importantly, we fostered a community for students to share their knowledge and discuss topics relevant to their major, while gaining technical experience and building their portfolios.
Are you interested in joining this community and improving your writing, editing, social media, and graphic design skills? We are looking for MSVU PR and communications students to join our 2022-2023 editorial team.
As a Symmetry editor, you will:
- write and edit submissions for Symmetry,
- recruit and support student writers,
- create graphics and promotional materials,
- learn how to use WordPress,
- and assist with social media management.
More information about Symmetry is available here.
If you’re interested in joining our team please email us at symmetry@msvu.ca the following:
- A writing sample.
- A short explanation (approximately 200-350 words) about why you are interested in joining the editorial team and why you would be a perfect fit.
The application deadline is Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.
If you are interested in getting involved but are not able to commit to joining the team as an editor, stay tuned for the publishing schedule to be released in September. We are always looking for article submissions!
If you have any questions about the position or the application process, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
